‘The offering of food is the offering of time, love and the spirit of you,’ says Oprah You describe your Turkey Chilli and Skinny Cornbread (two of the recipes from Oprah’s book featured in GH this month) as your go-to comfort food. What else are your favourites these days? There’s a truffle tortellini with stuffed cheese that is my favourite. I carry around truffle zest seasoning in my purse and don’t leave home without it! I was recently stopped in customs in South Africa. They were asking me what it was and I was thinking, ‘Please don’t let me be on CNN news trying to smuggle truffles!’ I’m not telling people to go out and spend money on truffles because they will be like, ‘Oprah GH TIP Old Bay seasoning is an American cupboard staple – a unique blend of herbs and spices that complements crab. In SA, use a Cajun spice blend in its place. you are crazy!’ But truffle zest is like carrying truffles in a bag.

The offering of food is the offering of your time, love and the spirit of you. I want things to be simple but also delicious and interesting. And your favourite desserts? I don’t have a sweet tooth, but we are a sorbet home. We just put fruit in the machine and it comes out as sorbet. We use chunks of fruit or roasted peaches when peaches are fresh, flakes of coconut when it is available or little tiny slices of sugar ginger. That’s my go-to dessert.
