Shine Scale

Good Housekeeping (South Africa) - - EXPERT ADVICE -

The top finishes you’ll find at the shop and where they work best. MATT: This no-shine finish reflects paint’s true colour and is the most economical. It scuffs easily, but is simple to touch up. Use it on big spaces that don’t get a lot of action, like ceilings. EGGSHELL: A very popular finish, this low-shine option is harder to scuff and easier to clean. SATIN: This sheen is similar in lustre to eggshell, but holds up better to moisture, so it’s ideal for bathrooms. SEMIGLOSS: This shiny finish is scratch- and scuff–proof, but doesn’t hide defects well. Use on areas that get more wear and tear, like doors and cabinets.
