They strengthen the mus­cles you rely on to do ev­ery­thing from pick­ing up your tod­dler to get­ting out of that sunken chair your hus­band has had since var­sity. Try this: stand with your feet shoul­der-width apart, toes turned out slightly, then squat, bring­ing your hips back and down, and keep your chest lifted and your abs en­gaged. Work up to 50 to 100 squats ev­ery morn­ing. You can do it!
