Motoring Toyota Yaris

Good Housekeeping (South Africa) - - CONTENTS - Juliet McGuire

Toyota has breathed life back into the Yaris, especially with the 1.5 Cross:

1 Tough love

We love the Cross’s rugged looks, with its black side moulding, brushedmetal apron treatment, roof rails and black over fenders.

2 Specced to the brim

The Cross boasts features such as keyless entry and push-button start, and a fourspeaker audio system with USB and Bluetooth functionality.

3 Loud and proud

A new touchscreen infotainment system features full smartphone integration and support via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols.

4 No guzzling

The 1,5 ℓ petrol engine might have humble power outputs of just 79kW and 140 N.m, but you’ll save on fuel.

5 Pack it in

The new Yaris has loads of storage areas, including two cup-holders in front, a centrally mounted console box and a driver-side storage binnacle.

TOYOTA YARIS 1.5 CROSS BOOT SIZE: 310 ℓ . | ECO ELEMENT: Fuel efficiency of 5,8 ℓ /100km for a manual and 5,9 ℓ /100km for a CVT. | SAFETY STANDOUTS: It might not be a premium car, but it still boasts driver and passenger air bags, ISOFIX points, ABS with Brake Assist, and even Hill Assist Control, so no more clutch control on those steep hills. | PRICE: R268 500.
