REV UP YOUR WALK
Tips to get the most out of your workout
STOP FOR STRENGTH
‘There are two resting areas on the reservoir pathway where we walk,’ says Laura. ‘There, we do press-ups on the back of a bench, squats, tricep dips and leg raises.’
Laura and Susie count lampposts along the path to create speed intervals. For instance, they walk at a pace that leaves them out of breath until they pass 10 lampposts, then slow down for another 10, speed up for another 10, and so on.
ALTER THE TERRAIN
Even a change from pavement to grass makes a difference. ‘We do part of our walk on the paved path and part of it on the grass next to it, which is a little more challenging,’ says Susie.
