‘There are two rest­ing ar­eas on the reser­voir path­way where we walk,’ says Laura. ‘There, we do press-ups on the back of a bench, squats, tri­cep dips and leg raises.’

ADD IN­TER­VALS

Laura and Susie count lamp­posts along the path to cre­ate speed in­ter­vals. For in­stance, they walk at a pace that leaves them out of breath un­til they pass 10 lamp­posts, then slow down for an­other 10, speed up for an­other 10, and so on.

AL­TER THE TER­RAIN

Even a change from pave­ment to grass makes a dif­fer­ence. ‘We do part of our walk on the paved path and part of it on the grass next to it, which is a lit­tle more chal­leng­ing,’ says Susie.
