Sit down for a meal with Nadege Lepoittevindasse and the bubbly French cook will serve you the world on a plate. A classic French flavour here, a local culinary twist there.

A passionate ‘eat-splorer’, Nadege has turned her love for travel and food into a shareable experience, offering custom cooking classes from her beautiful home in Noordhoek, Cape Town, as well as local and international culinary tours. ‘I love travelling and discovering new cultures. Gastronomy plays a huge roll in this as it reveals so much about the way people live,’ says Nadege.
‘The French-focused cooking classes came first,’ she explains. ‘During these I tried to transport my clients to France with local stories and ingredients. Then one day I thought, instead of just telling the stories, why not create them with my clients.’ With this in mind, Nadege started planning the first tour to her native town of Normandy. ‘The idea is to share meals with locals, meet chefs, farmers and other artisans, dine at the best bistros and Michelin-starred restaurants and see the sights, of course,’ she enthuses.
The tour proved so popular that she soon added more destinations and now offers delicious tours to Burgundy, Champagne and the Bourdeaux region, too, as well as more exotic locales such as Thailand and Alaska. There is even a Western Cape tour – with some surprising, and exciting, local discoveries.
Varying between seven and nine days in length, and with the option to go with or without a guide, the tours are flexible enough to suit any traveller’s appetite, and, as Nadege points out, ‘you don’t need to love cooking to take part in a tour, you just need to enjoy life.’
