GRAAFF-REINET — Twelve enthusiastic young U.12 cricketers from Graaff-reinet and surrounds were chosen from the Karoo district to represent their zone at the EP Youth Board U.12 Zonal Festival this weekend.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of professional kit by Montego Pet Nutrition, the boys looked extremely smart and really looked the part as they played cricket against other zones.
Sentraal Suid-kaap (SSK) Koöperasie donated R5 000 to the team, and other financial contributions came from Ascendis Animal Health, Marais Family Farming and PSG Konsult, Alet Slabbert. The team is extremely grateful for the generosity of these businesses. While the boys did not win any matches, they played good cricket and gleaned extremely valuable experience from stronger teams, coaches and EP officials. The EP cricket board also arranged tickets for them to watch both the EP Kings rugby and the pro20 Grand Slam doubleheader on Sunday.
Coach Richard Swartz looked after the boys during the time and a wonderful weekend was had by all!
