GRAAFF-REI­NET — The De­part­ment of De­fen­ce is re­crui­ting young, fit and he­althy can­di­da­tes who are ci­ti­zens of the Re­pu­blic of South A­fri­ca for its Mi­li­ta­ry Skills De­ve­lop­ment Sy­stem in the South A­fri­can Na­ti­o­nal De­fen­ce For­ce.

This is a two-y­e­ar vo­lun­ta­ry pro­gram­me ai­med at af­for­ding young pe­op­le the chan­ce to ser­ve in u­ni­form and a­cqui­re skills.

The­re are fi­ve dif­fe­rent ty­pes of trai­ning on of­fer, all of which re­qui­re at le­ast a Gra­de 12 (ma­tric) pass. The S A Ar­my of­fers com­bat and sup­port mus­te­rings, the SA Na­vy has com­bat, en­gi­neer­ing, techni­cal, sup­port and the ma­ri­ti­me re­acti­on secti­ons, and the SA Ai­r­for­ce ta­kes as­pi­ring pi­lots, na­vi­ga­tors, en­gi­neers, and techni­cal and ge­ne­ral ap­pli­cants. In­tel­li­gen­ce trai­ning is a­vai­la­ble with De­fen­ce In­tel­li­gen­ce a­cross all three ser­vi­ces.

Ap­pli­cants com­plying with the mi­ni­mum re­qui­re­ments will be sub­jected to furt­her scree­n­ing, and can­di­da­tes i­den­ti­fied will t­hen be in­vi­ted to par­ta­ke in a se­lecti­on pro­cess.

Ap­pli­ca­ti­on forms for can­di­da­tes wis­hing to join the va­ri­ous bran­ches are now a­vai­la­ble for col­lecti­on from ve­nues a­round the mu­ni­ci­pa­li­ty. The clo­sing da­tes for the ser­vi­ces are all Fe­bru­a­ry 28, 2018.

In Graaff-rei­net, the forms can be col­lected from the Robert So­buk­we Buil­ding (Mrs A­ba­der, Ms S­mith, or Mrs Ku­bashe), the Au­di­to­ri­um, and the To­wn Hall. They are al­so a­vai­la­ble from U­ma­si­zak­he Li­bra­ry and the Kroon­va­le of­fi­ces.

Furt­her a­field, forms are a­vai­la­ble at the Wil­low­mo­re and S­teyt­ler­vil­le Youth Cen­tres, Riet­bron and Ba­vi­aans­kloof li­bra­ries, and the mu­ni­ci­pal of­fi­ces in Jan­sen­vil­le, K­lip­plaat, Nieu Bet­hes­da, and A­ber­deen.

Ward coun­cil­lors should al­so ha­ve co­pies a­vai­la­ble.

The mu­ni­ci­pal of­fi­ces are o­pen from 07:30 to 16:30, with a lunch bre­ak be­t­ween 13:00 and 14:00.
