Step back in time at the vintage car show
One of the most popular exhibits at last year’s Collectors’ Fair in Graaff-reinet was the Vintage and Classic Car Show.
The organisers from Midland Car Club have decided to host a similar event at this year’s Karoo-lus Festival, but will be making it even bigger and better!
This year’s show, which will be held on the Union High sports fields, will also include selected modified cars, as well as vintage and classic motorcycles.
An added attraction for the vehicles’ owners will be a trip to see the fossils at Wellwood Farm with the classic vehicles on the Friday, 29 September.
A light lunch will be provided there, as well as a most interesting tour. Only a very short stretch of the drive will be on a gravel road, as the drivers will obviously be very cautious with their beloved vehicles!
Last year, about 75 cars took part in the show. Organiser Hannes van Jaarsveld aims to at least double that number this year, especially with the inclusion of the modified cars and motorcycles.
Entries have been received from as far afield as East London, Port Elizabeth and George.
The Club hopes that the event will continue to grow in future years, and will look to tie it in with other events running in the area.
