Teen’s mur­der ac­cused seeks bail

A 16-year-old boy ar­rested with his two friends in con­nec­tion with the mur­der of a Gra­ham­stown girl late last year is seek­ing bail.

The boy, to­gether with two 18-yearolds, was ar­rested af­ter the body of a teenage girl was found in a dump­ing area near TEM Mr­wetyana School in early De­cem­ber.

Wed­nes­day 11 Jan­uary was the third court ap­pear­ance for the trio since their ar­rest last year.

Since then they have been re­manded and con­tinue to re­main in cus­tody. The ju­ve­nile, who is rep­re­sented by a pri­vate at­tor­ney, is seek­ing bail.

The other two ac­cused have not in­di­cated whether they want bail or not.They will be rep­re­sented by Le­gal Aid at­tor­neys.

Po­lice said pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tions into the girl’s death sug­gested she had sus­tained se­ri­ous head in­juries and sev­eral stab wounds to her up­per body.

Her body was found on Mon­day morn­ing, 5 De­cem­ber by a woman who went to dump rub­bish near TEM Mr­wetyana School.

The three were swiftly ar­rested.
