Cows on the N2 a disaster waiting to happen

Grocott's Mail - - MAKANA VOICES -

Approximately a week ago over lunch time, I chased about 15 head of cattle off the N2 at the turnoff to the 1820 Settlers Monument. They headed to the grassy area around the Postgrad Village.

I then phoned the Grahamstown SAPS to report this, was transferred from one person to another until I complained, and then was told that someone would be sent out to deal with the problem. A few days ago when I happened to be travelling on the N2, there were more cows grazing on the side of the N2 adjacent the Postgrad Village, so it appears they are now a frequent presence in that area.

Although I don’t personally mind the cows in town, their presence on and near the N2 is a disaster waiting to happen, and really something needs to be done.
