Nom­bulelo Se­nior Sec­ondary School beat TEM Mr­wetyana in the fi­nal of a soc­cer tour­na­ment for lo­cal schools JD Dlepu Sta­dium on Tues­day. The tour­na­ment be­gan on 9 Au­gust with the round robin matches with semis and fi­nals tak­ing place this week.

Nom­bulelo won 5-4 on penal­ties after the game ended 0-0; and Unakho Moneli of the Nom­bulelo side was named Player of the Tour­na­ment.. Khut­liso Daniels beat Mary Wa­ters 2-1 in the third ad fourth place play-off.

Ac­cord­ing to Khut­liso Daniels teacher and tour­na­ment or­gan­iser, Mandi­lakhe Klaas, the tour­na­ment was part of the Lakhe Nathi Project.

“The aim of the tour­na­ment is to raise money for san­i­tary pads for the girls at schools,” Klaas said, “we could not ful­fil the goal how­ever due to lack of sup­port. We are do­ing this to hon­our and help women in aid of and as a cel­e­bra­tion to Women’s Month”. Any­one will­ing to make a do­na­tion to the cause can con­tact Mandi­lakhe at 083 218 5099.
