Police Awards and call for bravery

Grocott's Mail - - NEWS - STAFF REPORTER

Major General Mki, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Management Intervention in the Eastern Cape, presented over 130 medals to officers and members from the Port Alfred Cluster. The medals included 10, 20 and 30 loyal service medals as well as the commemoration and 2010 Soccer World Cup medal. The guard of honour stood in the pelting rain whilst the South African Police Service Code of Conduct was read. Despite the unpredictable weather, members received their medals with the applause of the guests in support

Quoting author Mark Manson, Major General Mki announced “"Bravery is not the absence of fear, bravery is feeling the fear, the doubt, the insecurity, and deciding that something else is more important.”

“It is therefore important to know that more often than not, being brave means doing it scared. I encourage you to be bold enough to use your voice, brave enough to listen to your heart and strong enough to continue to commit yourself to the safety and security of all citizens.”
