God’s answer to doubt

Grocott's Mail - - SOUL FOOD -

When Moses was presented with the terrific task of liberating a whole nation from the clutches of an oppressive ruler, he was excited and yet disconcerted.

It not everyday that you walk up to the ruler of the known world and simply ask him to hand over a significant portion of what he sees as his possessions.

This would be foolhardy at best and life threatening at worst. Yet this was what the living God had called his chosen leader to do.

Moses was understandably insecure about the whole arrangement and preceded to present his concerns to God. Our Father in heaven’s response was fascinating.

One would have thought in the light of the task at hand He would have offered Moses a bulletproof spandex suit, superhuman strength and a vibranium shield to accomplish everything.

At the very least Moses could have done with a friend with a very powerful hammer who could fly.

This was not what God offered. God’s response to Moses’s insecurity was the same as His response to ours, namely:

“Don’t be afraid, because I will be with you”. When all is said and done this really is the best answer to all insecurity.
