Port Al­fred oldie to fly EC flag at Golden games

The na­tional Golden Games take place in Pine­town, KwaZulu-Natal from 23-27 October. The provin­cial event for the Eastern Cape took place last month with a num­ber of se­nior cit­i­zens tak­ing part to de­ter­mine who would com­pete in Dur­ban.

Ad­vanc­ing health and well­be­ing into old age and en­sur­ing en­abling and sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ments are three main pri­or­i­ties and the Golden Games are a mech­a­nism to im­ple­ment them. They are or­gan­ised as a part­ner­ship be­tween the de­part­ments of So­cial De­vel­op­ment, Sport, Re­cre­ation, Arts and Cul­ture and Health; as well as well as the South African Po­lice Ser­vice and Sarah Baart­man Dis­trict Mu­nic­i­pal­ity.

Daniswa Mbilini from Port Al­fred will rep­re­sent Sara Baart­man dis­trict at the cham­pi­onships.Pro­gramme for the na­tional event: 23 October - Cul­tural and Mu­si­cal Fes­ti­val for Older Per­sons. 24 October - Na­tional Par­lia­ment for Older Per­sons. 25 October - SA Older Per­sons AGM and Con­fer­ence. 26-27 October - Golden Games.
