Anglers brave wind-blown seas
The Rock and Surf Super Pro league Kowie Crackers Franchise held their third league of the season on the Kleinemonde East Beach this past Saturday. Despite the 80km gale force easterly winds and 4m seas predicted the franchise saw a good turnout with 38 anglers entering on the day.
The winner of the Biggest Fish Species went to Wayne Scott with a White Steenbras of 68cm (5.2kg). David Drennan was second with a White Musselcracker of 57cm (4.2kg) and third place went to Stuart Brill with a Bronze Bream of 46.5cm (2.9kg).
The Biggest Shark catch for the day was Deon Marais with a Smooth Gully of 80cm (2kg).
Karen Kemp won the Ladies category with 96 points, while Colin Scheepers won the Masters category with 250 points.
There were 177 fish caught across 16 species with a calculated weight of 96kg (RASSPL is 100% catch & release).
The next RASSPL event will be on the Port Alfred East Beach on 25 November. Anyone interested in taking part can contact David Drennan on 076 036 4292.
