Makana Sona surprised Willows with a 67-run win in their local cricket derby at Manleys Flats on Sunday. What made the victory (Makana Sona's league fixture) more special was the fact that they last managed to beat Willows in 2012. Willows won the toss and sent Makana Sona in to bat on a flat wicket.

Makana openers batted well under difficult conditions and managed to make 215/3 in their allotted 50 overs. Willows' bowlers struggled to get their rhythm and were put under pressure from the Makana openers. Aviwe Sentwa. a newcomer for Makana batted well for a fine 97 and was well supported by veteran Lunga Stamper's aggressive 67 not out.

Mohammed Sonday took one wicket for 37, Melville Daniels 1/48 and Abner Accom 1/42. Willows batsmen failed to get going in the run chase and most of them got themselves out with bad shot selections. They lost wickets at regular intervals, due to Makana's disciplined bowling. Sonday (26), Melville Daniels (22), Seviano Jasson (18), Duane Brown (15) and Luvane Daniels (13), all tried by could not bat to the end. Singqibo Bongo 5/42 and Lusanda Qinela 3/25, were the destroyers-inchief for their side and bowled really well, leaving Willows with 148 all out in 41.2 overs.

Manleys were bowled out for a mere 101 runs with Francois Van Rooyen top scoring on just 23.
