Two from two for EP Rural
Left-hand star batsman Brandon Handley scored 105 runs for EP Rural in a convincing 75-run win over Boland West at Shaw Park on Saturday. This was EP Rural’s second consecutive win in the Cricket South Africa Rural Competition.
Rural won the toss and decided to bat on a batting friendly pitch; scoring 275/9 in their allotted 50 overs and put the Boland bowlers under pressure throughout their innings.
The home side got off to a slow start, but their captain and SA Rural player Handley, came to the rescue and played a good captain's innings. His knock of 105 came from only 104 balls, including 11 4s and three 6s. He was well supported by the in form Grant Stone 54 and Kevin Bennet 32. Sipho Dapu 4/39, Darren Smith 2/54 and Gerhard Brink 2/42, were the best bowlers for the Boland side.
Boland West had a slow start to their run chase due to the disciplined and accurate bowling from EP. Handley 2/7, Tayler Ntukela 2/33, Greg Evans 2/45 and Cameron Braans 1/22, were the wicket takers for the EP side with Boland only managing 200 all out.
EP will face Border Aloes in their next CSA fixture in Healdtown on 4 November.
