Grocott's Mail - - MOTORING - STAFF REPORTER

Vehicle owners with outstanding licence penalties and arrears have until New Year’s Eve to apply for amnesty, the Eastern Cape Department of Transport announced this week.

Transport, Safety and Liaison MEC Weziwe Tikana said the amnesty period is 1 October to 31 December 2018 and only applicants who have not paid their licence fees from 1 January 2005 to 31 March 2017 would be considered for a discount.

For local vehicle owners, the Makana Traffic Department will receive amnesty applications and forward them to the Head Office, who will send the response back to Makana. “Only vehicles licensed in the Eastern Cape will be considered, subject to motivation and sworn statement,” Tikana said and only the owner or title holder may make the application.

To apply take with you an affidavit, a certified copy of your ID and proof of address not older than three months.
