Steel lanterns hang at the front door; Il­lze de­signed them her­self and then had them made. The yel­low­wood kist is an heir­loom, while the por­trait above is of a Span­ish sea cap­tain’s wife who man­aged the mar­ket at Mos­sel Bay Har­bour – Il­lze’s hus­band Wouter says his step­fa­ther boarded with her grand­daugh­ter, who be­queathed the paint­ing to him.
