After staying in a converted barn while on holiday in Menorca, an island off the coast of Spain, Jill and Craig Marion were inspired to transform an old carpenter’s workshop-turned-pottery studio into a small guest suite on their property along the Garden Route. Since they had to create several rooms out of one open space, each room turned out to be on the small side – but the couple ensured that they all packed a punch, both practically and aesthetically.
Kitchen shelves made from old scaffolding planks make full use of the height in this space. Just below is a coffee stationcum-breakfast nook made from another scaffolding plank supported by a pair of discarded staircase railings. In small spaces, multi-functional zones such as this come in handy!
