False Bay Vineyards prides itself on making ‘real’ wine affordable and has now given its range a facelift. The False Bay range (R58 per bottle from boutique wine shops and restaurants countrywide) comprises two red wines (Old School Syrah and Bush Vine Pinotage), three whites (Crystalline Chardonnay, Windswept Sauvignon Blanc and Slow Chenin Blanc), and a Whole Bunch Rosé. Go to falsebayvineyards.co.za. Rojaal is an authentic country eatery in Elgin, just a short drive from Cape Town. Located in a former flower-packing shed, Rojaal (the Afrikaans word for generous or abundant) was established by enterprising apple farmer Arno Reuvers just over a year ago. The heritage-style décor and wholesome menu, including favourites such as chicken salad with a side of roosterkoek or a mouthwatering cake partnered with a Cream Soda float, is fabulous. It’s open from 08:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday to Sunday; call 021 204 1085.
