Make a change
Joy Herbst of Sedgefield writes
We live in a beautiful complex on the Garden Route. Due to the drought, we had to change our small, very untidy and high-maintenance garden to make it more waterwise and indigenous. My husband David, who has never been a gardener, said he would like to design the new garden for me. I was apprehensive but I agreed.
He even changed the sandblasted decal on the front doors to match the symmetrical stone pavers! I’m thrilled and, of course, so is he.
David is now an avid gardener at 71. I catch him standing outside the front door, gazing at his handiwork. And so he should. It’s never too late to find a new hobby.
