Final resting place

Home (South Africa) - - FRESH IDEAS FINAL RESTING PLACE -

In the 1950s, long before upcycling was a buzz word, the late Philip Myburgh of Joostenberg wine farm outside Stellenbosch installed a “retired” sowing wheel in the stoep wall of his historic manor house. Almost seven decades and two generations later it still ensures that the stoep stays light and airy, and reminds the current residents, Nicky and Philip (the late Philip’s grandson), of the farm’s history and the inventiveness of their ancestors. Says Nicky, “I love my stoep’s unassuming charm and the fact that our back door to this area stays open all day.”
