Pro­tect the blades of your kitchen knives with this handy knife block.

You will need

• 18mm ply­wood, cut to: one 320mm x 280mm board two 150mm x 75mm brackets

• drill and 35mm hinge bor­ing bit

• eight 30mm cir­cu­lar mag­nets

• Al­colin Fix-All

• jig­saw

• 120-grit sand­pa­per

1 Mea­sure and mark the po­si­tion of the knives, mak­ing lines on the back of the board.

2 Bore two cir­cu­lar re­cesses on each line for the mag­nets then cut two grooves (40mm x 18mm) in the bot­tom edge of the board, 50mm in from each side.

3 Glue the mag­nets in the holes with Al­colin Fix-All.

4 Cut a 40mm x 18mm groove in the mid­dle of each bracket. Sand the wood smooth be­fore plac­ing your knives on the block.
