BIG IDEA #2

FLOORS WITH A VINTAGE FRENCH EFFECT

House and Leisure Before and After - - RENOVATION #2 -

Rather than opting for tiles on the floors, Craig and Chrislien had a thin layer of white cement put over the foundation throughout, and covered it

with a sketchily applied water-based sealer to give it an interesting layered look. ‘White cement is durable and more economical than tiling or a resin screed,’ says Chrislien. ‘There’s a grey

undertone that complements any colour.’

BEFOROPPOSITERIGHT,BEFOREABOVE,E ABOVE A new entrance to the house was created by removing the wall on the side, relocating the front door in the centre of the facade and putting a round Victorian air vent from Dealers Mart (021-853-6243), a demolition yard in Strand, above the door to add character. The cement planters are from Peppino (peppino.co.za).
