House and Leisure (South Africa) - - Contributor -

Having grown up on a farm just outside Durban, Sean studied photography in his hometown and then assisted two South African greats in Cape Town, where, he says, ‘I did my real learning.’ Currently dividing his time between London and Cape Town, Sean was in town recently and shot our food story for this issue, ‘A Visual Feast’ (page 86). What’s your favourite art form? Photography, especially on record covers. Who are some of your favourite South African artists? Pieter Hugo and David Goldblatt. Dream galleries or museums around the world you’d like to visit? The Frida Kahlo Museum (the Blue House) in Mexico City and The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice would be a good start. If money were no object, what work of art would you treat yourself to? Anything by Frida Kahlo or a signed cover of Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love. What three words best describe your home? Neat, uncluttered, peaceful.
