The genius of collaborative thought is that it births innovative pieces such as the Meraki daybed. The American Hardwood Export Council’s project, Seed to Seat, tasked seven prominent South African designers with creating ‘something to sit on’. Cape Townbased design studio Wiid Design used sustainable cork and American soft maple to create a dreamy yet practical daybed that merges modern geometric shapes with intricate, age-old carving techniques. If you missed the grand unveiling at 100% Design South Africa at the beginning of August, the Meraki is also available directly from its creator.
