‘On­ly 19 days of wa­ter left in Knys­na’

In the la­test wa­ter up­da­te from the Knys­na mu­ni­ci­pal ma­na­ger Kam C­het­ty said: “The Oys­ter fe­s­ti­val did ha­ve an im­pact on Knys­na’s wa­ter re­sour­ces.

“The back-up plan is to com­ple­te the bulk wa­ter sy­stem (pi­pe li­ne that feeds wa­ter from the ri­ver to the stora­ge dam) as soon as pos­si­ble.

We are very c­lo­se to mo­ving to le­vel 4 wa­ter re­stricti­ons. Cur­rent­ly the Ak­ker­kloof dam is at 30% of wa­ter sup­ply, which e­qua­tes to 19 days of wa­ter. Wee­kend rain of 23mm in­cre­a­sed the flow of ri­vers s­lig­ht­ly.”
