Man falls 200m, survives
A man, believed to be 42 years old, sustained moderate injuries after falling down an embankment in the Elandskraal area in Karatara close to Knysna on 26 September.
According to ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen, ER24 arrived on the scene just after 14:00, and the man was found lying at the bottom of an embankment. It is believed he fell about 200m down.
“Upon further assessment, it was found that the man suffered injuries to his leg. He was stabilised on the ground before being hoisted into the Skymed emergency helicopter that was activated to airlift the man to hospital. He was taken to Mediclinic George for further medical care,” said Van Huyssteen.
She added that the exact circumstances of the incident are not yet known to ER24 paramedics, and she could also not provide any further details on the incident by the time of going to print.
