Man falls 200m, sur­vi­ves

A man, be­lie­ved to be 42 y­e­ars old, sus­tai­ned mo­de­ra­te in­ju­ries af­ter fal­ling do­wn an em­bank­ment in the E­lands­kraal a­rea in Ka­ra­ta­ra c­lo­se to Knys­na on 26 Sep­tem­ber.

Ac­cor­ding to ER24 spo­kes­per­son I­ne­ke van Huys­steen, ER24 ar­ri­ved on the sce­ne just af­ter 14:00, and the man was found lying at the bottom of an em­bank­ment. It is be­lie­ved he fell a­bout 200m do­wn.

“Upon furt­her as­ses­sment, it was found that the man suf­fe­red in­ju­ries to his leg. He was sta­bi­li­sed on the ground be­fo­re being hoi­sted in­to the Sky­med e­mer­gen­cy he­li­cop­ter that was acti­va­ted to ai­r­lift the man to hos­pi­tal. He was ta­ken to Me­di­cli­nic Ge­or­ge for furt­her me­di­cal ca­re,” said Van Huys­steen.

She ad­ded that the ex­act ci­r­cum­stan­ces of the in­ci­dent are not yet kno­wn to ER24 pa­ra­me­di­cs, and she could al­so not pro­vi­de any furt­her de­tails on the in­ci­dent by the ti­me of going to print.
