Age is just a number
Knysna’s own “galloping granny”, 91-year-old, Christine van Noppen, completed 50 Knysna parkruns this weekend.
On Saturday 28 October, Van Noppen was accompanied by Pierre de Wet – who also completed 50 runs – and Leslie Procter who completed her 100th run.
“Christine has been participating in the Knysna parkrun since March last year and is a great inspiration to all of us younger folk. She is there most Saturdays and always turns up with a smile on her face, her hat on her head, and her walking stick in her hand,” says Kenny Wilkinson, organiser of the parkrun.
The Knysna parkrun is a 5km run/walk which is held every Saturday morning at 8:00, starting in George Rex drive. It is free to all entrants. –
Christine van Noppen (91) proves that age is no excuse when it comes to living a fit and healthy lifestyle.
