If you’re desperate to get your hands on a flying car as soon as possible, PAL-V’s Liberty is your best bet. The Dutch company recently announced that it is officially taking pre-orders for the Liberty, the world’s very first certified commercial flying car. But there are a few issues. You’ll need a pilot’s licence, of course, and you’ll also need close to R8 million lying around if you want the top-spec Pioneer (R5.5 million for the cheaper Sport). Most worryingly, however, it doesn’t look terribly cool. In the air, it looks like a helicopter. On the ground it looks like... a helicopter. It’s not a DeLorean, that’s for sure. Still, it has a top speed of 160km/h on the ground and 180km/h in the air. It flies, it drives, it’s a flying car that you can buy.
