Leisure Wheels (South Africa) - - GUIDE -

South Africa did not respond well to the very first sporty hybrid offering, which was surprisingly introduced by Honda.

Perhaps the CR-Z wasn’t sporty enough at the price, offering only 91kW and 171Nm of torque. Still, it was frugal. And a deeply interesting car from a styling perspective. Honda proved that hybrids needn’t all look the same, with the CR-Z featuring styling harking back to the days when Honda still built performance coupés.

The CR-Z lost value far quicker than any other car on this list, which possibly makes it the hybrid steal of the moment. We found a 2013 model, with less than 80 000km on the clock. In Honda terms, that’s hardly run in. Retailing at just R145 000, it’s much cheaper than an entry-level hatch these days.

Not bad for an interesting, reliable and funky car that still attracts attention. If you’re interested, better get to it as only 10 are currently on sale in South Africa.
