for the community, by the community
Integral to the success of The Lunchbox Fund project is its partnership with local gogos and mothers, who are recruited to prepare meals and are paid a stipend for their work. The Lunchbox Fund thus empowers these women in their communities and creates income generation, which encourages further community involvement and upliftment. This ‘on the ground’ monitoring network enables community members to assist in identifying children at risk, those in need of nutritional support and those not attending school. Each project is then tailored to the needs of the community, rather than
imposing a ‘one size fits all’ policy. In this way, each school is able to find the best way to flourish with the support of The Lunchbox Fund.
