healthy and happy
A standard meal from The Lunchbox Fund includes a peanut-butter sandwich on brown bread, fruit and something to drink. In some communities, the fund may provide a hot meal consisting of soup, maize meal, soya mince, samp, sugar beans and rice. Providing a substantial and nutritious meal at school encourages attendance of the children on the project. The knock-on effect is remarkable: children who stay in school are less exposed to HIV/Aids infection and abuse, and at-risk behaviour is reduced. These children feel
connected, involved and cared for, leading to a greater motivation to achieve both in school and beyond.
