Cape Town and Jo’burg food­ies will know Vic­tor and Naldo Gonçalves of restaurants Vil­am­oura and Pi­galle fame. They’ve now launched NV-80, a grill bar in the new Sea Point re­tail de­vel­op­ment, The Point. The at­mos­phere is re­laxed but up-mar­ket, the venue is dec­o­rated with a Cuban feel, the wait­ers are gen­uinely ex­cited about the food and wine on of­fer… and the prices are a steal. Start with oys­ters and an MCC,sam­ple the pear and Gor­gonzola salad, and make sure your part­ner or­ders the surf (mus­sels, lan­goustines) if you go for the turf (rump), so you can share, be­cause even though it’s called a grill bar, the seafood is out­stand­ing. Don’t leave with­out at least one spoon­ful of dessert.There are plenty of eater­ies to visit if you’re look­ing for am­bi­ence or a great view. Visit this one for the food.
