BEAUTY ED’S NOTE

Marie Claire (South Africa) - - BEAUTY -

about two weeks before my trip to New York to attend Clinique’s global press launch of their Smart Serum, I was fortunate enough to be given a sample to try. I have to be honest and say that I was happy with my skin to begin with. I didn’t have any real concerns and was generally grateful for a healthy complexion. When I took the sample, I remember thinking: ‘What if I just don’t see a difference?’ And so I vowed to use the serum diligently morning and night until I finished the product. I’m not always good at that! I am easily distracted and too eager to experiment with the new kid on the block. It’s the pain and pleasure of my job.

Two weeks later, I was off to the Big Apple with my skin looking brighter and more eventoned than I’ve ever known it to be. As soon as I boarded my flight, I took out the serum and applied it to my clean, make-up free face to prepare it for the long flight ahead (you can apply this under or over your moisturiser if you’re using Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion). Also, I love applying nourishing skin products before bed and, since this was an evening flight, the timing was perfect. I continued to use the serum until it was completely finished. I got about six weeks’ use from it as well as healthy-looking skin with great texture.

For me, what the serum did is fix a problem I was hardly aware of. Sometimes, we can become so used to our skin’s condition that we stop noticing it. This was certainly the case for me. I hadn’t noticed the amount of sun damage I had until it started fading away. I also didn’t realise how much softer and smoother the texture of my skin could be. It must be said, though, that I am a huge fan of exfoliation – never going a week without doing it – which must have aided the serum’s work, I guess. I love that it’s suitable for anyone – woman or man (especially if you’re a regular shaver), young or mature (you can start as early as 12 years old and carry on as long as you please) and no matter where you come from. (It has been tested in eight regions around the world, although, sadly nowhere in Africa yet.)

Bravo to Clinique for taking yet another great step in revolutionary skin care!
