In its ad cam­paign for Spring/Sum­mer 1991, United Colours of Benet­ton, well known for cam­paigns that pushed bound­aries, made another bold so­cial state­ment. Its ’90s di­ver­sity cam­paign por­trayed three peo­ple – one black, one white and one Asian – all play­fully stick­ing out their tongues, il­lus­trat­ing that even though they are dif­fer­ent on the out­side, their tongues are the same.
