The Kia Soul is one of those vehicles you can’t be ambivalent about. You either love the way it looks, or you don’t. The new generation Soul, however, is winning critics over with its eyecatching new design. And the overhaul is evident in the interior as well. It comfortably seats four and the cabin is quieter than its predecessor’s thanks to improved noise vibration levels. The 17-inch alloy wheels, ABS brakes, air conditioning, six-speaker sound system, electric windows and airbags are standard and the Soul comes in three trim levels: the entry-level Start, the midlevel Street and the top-spec Smart. However, it’s not a car built for performance, with both the petrol and diesel variants lagging a bit.The SUV-looking Soul is perfectly suited to an urban lifestyle. Price: From R239 995
