JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

Marie Claire (South Africa) - - COUTURE REPORT -

Weddings were the theme of the collection that Jean Paul Gaultier named ‘ Ways to Say Yes’. Known for his ability to bring together strong masculine and feminine elements in his work, Jean Paul Gaultier paired these perfectly in a show that saw everything from day-to-day denim to soft tulle, tailored trousers, lightweight chiffon and hints of the iconic Madonna cone bra of the s. Each look took on these contrasting elements with clever names – a black out t, tailored like a man’s suit on one side and draped like a dress on the other was called ‘To Bi or Not To Bi’. And taking the theme right through to the closing moments of the show, Naomi Campbell was the bridal bouquet showstopper – taking to the runway in cellophane and live orchids.
