Marie Claire (South Africa) - - HEALTH REPORT -

Last year, South Africa rolled out a national HPV vaccination programme targeting 500 000 primary school girls, but can’t afford to include the many older ones at risk, or boys, who pass on the virus. (HPV can also cause penile or testicular cancer, though these are rarer than cervical cancer). The annual incidence of cervical cancer is ve times higher in southern Africa than in developed countries, where HPV vaccination has been available since 2006.
