Jennifer Lopez on SHADES OF BLUE

Marie Claire (South Africa) - - CELEBRITY -

‘Good people do questionable things all the time’. Or at least that’s what Jennifer Lopez has to say about her new role in police drama series Shades of Blue. She plays detective Harlee Santos, a NYPD detective caught up in an FBI corruption probe that forces her to choose between loyalty to her unit, and doing the right thing. ‘The show is really about human nature. More than anything, I think the overarching theme is about how people get themselves in very slippery situations,’ she said in an interview with Extra, maintaining that Harlee is a good person who is doing the best she can for her daughter as a single mother. Describing Harlee, Jennifer says, ‘She’s complicated. I think there are going to be moments when you hate her and moments when you love her, but you’re always going to understand her’. Playing a complicated character is exactly what she was looking for. ‘To me all the best roles are always somebody who is morally challenged in some way. Riding both sides of the fence all the time.’ Shades of Blue premieres on M-Net channel 101 at 8.30pm on 13 January 2016
