I am inspired by soft, neutral shades this month – they are romantic, attering and never over the top. I’m looking for a pared-down, polished look, with make-up in tones of dusty rose, blush pink and seashell. Adding a bit of shimmer or a gloss nish creates dimension and prevents the look from appearing at. Use a gloss on the eyelids and lips, or highlighter on the cheekbones. Flushed pink cheeks are reminiscent of youth – and my response to the contouring craze. Simply smile and tap the apples of the cheeks with a dusting of your shade of pink. For fair skins, choose a baby pink and labels that say ‘ sheer’ or ‘ satin nish’ so you don’t overdose on colour. Medium and olive-toned skins look great in peach shades, and dark skins can soak up colour with plums and deep terracotta pinks. For this neutral make-up look it’s best to steer clear of a totally matte look and instead go for dewy and radiant skin.
