Bringing you the truth about love and dating in a way your girlfriends wouldn’t dare

Q: MY BEST FRIEND AND I REALISED WE MATCHED WITH THE SAME GUY ON TINDER AFTER EACH GOING ON DATES WITH HIM. HE DOESN’T KNOW WE’RE FRIENDS AND SHE’S WILLING TO GIVE HIM UP FOR THE SAKE OF OUR FRIENDSHIP, BUT I FELT A REAL CONNECTION. SHOULD I MOVE ON OR STICK IT OUT?

A: Few things test a friendship more than affection for the same guy. My rst instinct is to stick with your girl and give Mr Tinder a miss; her friendship trumps the brief spark you shared with him. If he was dating you and your bestie at the same time, you can only wonder how many other Tinder dates he’s been on. Mr Tinder may not want anything too serious, so make sure you know where he stands before you risk losing your friend over a man who’s effectively a stranger. However, if he proves his worth and the relationship blossoms, you need to have an honest conversation with your friend. Remind her that being with him was never planned nor is it a competition between you two. Understandably, she may need time to process it, and you owe her that respect. Hopefully when she does come around, Mr Tinder has the perfect friend for her. That would truly be a right-swipe match into a happily ever after.
