One of the hottest cock­tails for sum­mer is the clas­sic Ital­ian Aperol Spritz. It’s easy, bit­ter and re­fresh­ing. If you want to serve a non-al­co­holic op­tion, a San­gria-style drink is great.

There are many ex­cel­lent lo­cal bub­blies. A great bar­gain buy is Suiker­bossie Brut NV, a middle-of-the-range op­tion is Le Lude Brut Re­serve NV and if bud­get isn’t an op­tion, go for High Con­stan­tia Clos An­dre 2010.

Con­sider a gin bar. In­clude a se­lec­tion of gins, dif­fer­ent fruit and herb gar­nishes. My two favourite dis­tillers are Hope On Hop­kins and Jor­gensen’s.

Choose a like­able craft beer, like a lager or pil­sner. I love Ci­ti­zen Pa­triot and CBC Pil­sner.
