Marie Claire (South Africa) - - TREND REPORT -

When Alexander Wang launched his collaboration with H&M in November 2014, his collection of leggings and sweatshirts in futuristic neoprene fabric helped make the athleisure trend mainstream. But this fashion revolution isn’t just about collecting expensive pairs of sneakers – it’s about the global craving for constant movement and the tools we need to achieve this. Fabrics and textiles, the foundation of fashion, have also needed to change as a result.

The trend of wearing sportswear you don’t do any actual sport in has spawned an industry worth billions. At the annual P&G Future Fabrics conference held last December in Barcelona, Spain, industry experts explored how sportswear has changed the kind of fabrics we wear.
