CRIMPED OUT

Marie Claire (South Africa) - - BEAUTY -

A big focus for hair this season is enhancing and even mixing contrasting textures, like volumised roots and slicked-down ends or smoothed hair around the crown paired with bouncy curls. Saadique uses a crimping styler on the ends of the hair for a modern take on this 80s fad and adds the accessory of the moment, a hair barrette. The graphic element of the hairstyle is echoed in the make-up, with Liz intensifying the eyes with a brush stroke of black cream shadow. ‘Skip the smudging and blending,’ she says. ‘This look is about one swoosh across the lid for an accidental coolness.’ Liz mattes down the dark eye with a touch of black eye shadow to ensure it doesn’t budge, while skipping mascara and washing the skin with a light foundation.
