There is a fine line between tacky and tasteful when it comes to nail art. We’ve mastered the trick; sophisticated, bold nails using simplistic but graphic shapes. ‘Paint a chevron pattern using a dark shade,’ says Patty. She suggests painting the whole nail with the lighter colour and then painting the shape in a darker colour. If you struggle with a steady hand, simply use sticky tape to mark the outline of the triangle at the base of the nail before painting the darker colour. Alternatively, she suggests flattening the nail polish brush at the base of the nail to create the outline of the shape then painting the rest of the nail, leaving the triangle shape bare. Patty achieved the perfect winter-friendly shade of mulberry and Renton mimicked that with a berry-stained lip.
