I’m excited to be working on my not-so-new job as arts editor for the Mail & Guardian. I’m also excited about a podcast called ‘After Deadline’ with some colleagues from the paper. It’s a work in progress, but basically talks about things we go through as women. I’ve also started shooting a documentary about hair, black identity and my national history in an effort to understand who we are and why our lives are upside down. It started the day I held my hair in my hands and asked myself why I hated the way it felt. In my handbag, there’s always Vaseline, lipstick, my cellphone charger, a novel and a notebook. On my most recent holiday I went to Dullstroom for a weekend. It was nice to breathe in different air and not see anybody within a 10km radius.
