The Great Lakes re­gion is one of the most beau­ti­ful ex­panses in Africa, with art, cul­ture and nat­u­ral beauty in abun­dance. But for all its splen­dour, the area is still bur­dened with ar­chaic laws, es­pe­cially re­lat­ing to queer iden­ti­ties. With daily vi­o­lence and dis­crim­i­na­tion against many LGBT peo­ple, there is o en very lit­tle to cel­e­brate.
